When considering when, where, how, for how long and what type of vacation, trip or holiday venture to undertake, we all get caught up in the anticipation, excitement and exhilaration. Sometimes we let the more important financial side of things slip a little. imageAfter all, for most of us, taking a vacation may only happen once a year, for some, even more infrequently. We tend to indulge and forget about our pocket book a little.

This is probably the Midwest’s best family resort and spa that also includes great fantastic golf. This resort has enjoyed a $14M renovation since 2003 and that only adds to the luster of this great destination.

The resort features 3 great golf courses. Bear by Jack Nicklaus, Wolverine by Gary Player, and Spruce Run by William Newcomb. These three amazing golf courses will thrill and challenge any golfer but offer fair play for the average or young golfer. Jim McLean also runs a great school on the facility which will help you work out that kink in your swing.

The Las Vegas Hilton is not on the busiest part of the famed Vegas strip and that can be a good thing. It is a very nice hotel that is much larger than the typical Hilton but not as gaudy and audacious as some of the hotels in Sin City.

Because it is not a regular Hilton hotel, members of the Hilton Honors program may be a little disappointed. They give out points for your stay but you won?t get the typical favored treatment that you will find in other Hilton properties. This hotel will reserve that special treatment for their high stakes gamblers.

The Grand Canyon is one of the most beautiful natural sites in the US. Many people visit the South Rim of the canyon, as it is the most accessible from major cities.

Recently, the Hualapai opened up the West Rim for viewing by tourists. The landmark facility in their effort is the glass skywalk which allows the visitor to walk on a cantilevered structure that overhangs the edge and has a glass floor. This gives the vacationer an unforgettable view of the Grand Canyon.

The Hoover Dam is one of the USA’s most spectacular engineering destinations. It was built in an era when jobs were needed to pull the nation out of the lack of employment of the Depression. Men died putting in the structure and they are respectfully commemorated on the Nevada side of the river.
